WOOD standard 2.0
2025 – 2027 | In progress
Goal
Follow-up of project “TRE-Standard”. Will, among other things, survey and analyze to provide a technical basis for changes to the EPD standard for building products. The project will also increase the standardization expertise of Norwegian woodworking companies and strengthen Nordic cooperation in this area.

3SOUND
2024 – 2027 | In progress
Goal
The project will develop a database for sound insulation for floor partitions in wooden buildings and provide a basis for preaccepted solutions for buildings up to 6 floors.

Sustainability communication about wooden buildings
2024 – 2025 | In progress
Goal
The project will give companies in the value chain a better basis for documenting and communicating about sustainable wooden buildings to strengthen competitiveness and ensure market access.

Circular lumber wrap
2025-2026 | In progress
Objective
The project will develop and test on an industrial scale a closed-loop system of lumber foil to reduce resource consumption and increase the recycling of plastics in the wood and construction industries.

Climate-friendly buildings Innlandet
2023 – 2026 | In progress
Goal
The project will accelerate climate-friendly material use and construction processes in Inland Norway.
The goal is for the county’s building and construction sector to take a proactive, leading role in climate-friendly building practices, both in new builds and renovation.
Participants
The project is led by Norwegian Wood Cluster in collaboration with Civitas and Norconsult.
The target group for the project is the construction industry in Innlandet county, including public and private developers, contractors, architects, consultants and recyclers.

The Circular Bioeconomy Arena
2023-2026 | In progress
Goal
To increase insight and contact across the Norway-Sweden border within the reuse of wood in wooden buildings and packaging. The project will lift good, circular business ideas to commercialization and internationalization, as well as further develop the innovation systems on the Norwegian and Swedish sides through collaboration.
Participants
Norwegian Wood Cluster and Paper Province own the project and collaborate closely with Innovatum Science Park and Dalerna Science Park.
In addition, Sting Bioeconomy, ByggDialog Dalerna, Kjeller Innovasjon AS, Klosser Innovasjon AS, Circular Packaging Cluster and DNB Bank ASA are partners in the project. Reference group: NWC’s specialist group on sustainability
Funding
On the Norwegian side, the project is funded by Interreg Sweden-Norway, the counties of Akershus, Buskerud, Østfold and Innlandet. In addition, Norwegian Wood Cluster SA is contributing its own funds and DNB Bank ASA is contributing its own funds and cash. On the Swedish side, the project is funded by the EU, Vinnova and the regions of Dalerna, Värmland and Vestre Götaland.

WOOD-Automation
2022-2025 | In progress
Goal
The project will provide the woodworking companies in the Norwegian Wood Cluster with increased insight into the possibilities of utilizing automation and robotization in the production processes, in order to strengthen their competitiveness.
Participants
Norwegian Wood Cluster owns the project. Sparring partners are Moelven Limtre AS and NTNU. Faggruppe Digitalisering og automasjon is the reference group.

Goal
The project will increase insight into ongoing work in finance and sustainability relevant to the forestry and wood industry.
The main deliverable from the project is a guide for sustainability reporting. Version 1.0 was published on March 20, 2024.

SirkTRE
2021-2025 | Completed
Goal
SirkTRE was established as a national project to develop expertise, technology and standards that enable a circular value chain for wood in the construction and real estate sector. SirkTRE has explored how the principles of the circular economy can give wood multiple lives, thus helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen value creation in the construction industry and promote more sustainable social development.
Participants
The project has brought together more than 30 partners across industry, research, administration and the construction industry, and through more than 40 pilots and activities has built up a knowledge and industry base that Norway has not previously had. The project has been led by Omtre. Norwegian Wood Cluster was one of the initiators of the project and has participated as a partner.

Goal
The cluster-to-cluster project “Packaging and construction – Circular resource utilization and packaging of wood materials in construction” facilitated knowledge transfer and aimed to increase cooperation between the players in the two clusters and accelerate the circular economy transition in companies in the construction and packaging sector.
